An Explanation of My Idea

An Explanation of My Idea

Our idea was to create a scenario similar to '8 mile'. This film starts with our main character, Ramo, mumbling his lyrics to himself for a few seconds. I knock on the door and ask Ramo if he’s ready and he says that he’s ready to have his battle. We came up with this idea because we are both fans of Eminem and wanted to re-create the scene. The scene begins with Ramo in the bathroom practicing his lyrics. Then our second character, Sharnizzle, knocks on the door to tell Ramo that he needs to go onto stage.

The camera techniques I used was Close up to capture the detail and expression on Ramo's  face, I used the extreme long shot to show the second character to show where he was going. Match on action was used because it showed the second character what room he was going into. I used shot reverse shot to show Sharnizzle and Ramo conversation and we kept the 180 degree as well.

The first edit technique I used was a fade to black to start the scene then a few cut edits then I used a match on action edit to show Sharnizzle coming to talk to Ramo.

The challenges I found during filming was keeping the characters head 1/3 of  the way down, I also have trouble with my clothes for the filming because I wasn't organised I didn't wear the same clothes. When I was first filming so I had to film some of the scenes I had to record again. The things I would change if I was to film this again I would make sure that I'm more organised with my stuff but a part from that that's about it.

Planning for encouter

This week I've learnt what the rules of thirds are.
The first rule is  match on action and match of action is basically two pieces of footage that flow from one to the other.
The second rule is shot reverse shot and the shot revise shot is where you take a shot from person a’s point of view and then cut to person b’s point of view then back to person a’s point of view.
Then there’s the third rule which is the 180 degree rule you can go 180 degrees however if you go over you've broken the rule. Think of it like a semi circle you can only go on one side if you go over go on other side you've confused the audience so you always stay on one side.
I also learnt about transition.
Transitions: A transition is how you move one shot to another.
Fade to black: A fade to black transition is when you have a shot and then it fades to black to finish the scene.
Fade from black: A fade from black transition is when you want to start a new scene.
Dissolve: A dissolve/cross fade scene is when one image changes to another scene.
establishing shot: A establishing shot is an extreme long shot and it also sets the scene.
Medium close up: A medium close up is a safety shot it shows you half of the persons body.
Close up: A close up is a shot that is giving you a characters facial expressions and feelings in detail. It also builds a relationship between the character and the audience.
Angles: You can take a shot from two angels on is a high angle which makes a character look small then there is the low angle that makes the character look big.
Canted angle: A canted angle is an angle that the camera is taken from the side to create an affect to make you think that something isn't right.
Pan: A pan is a side no side movement.
Track: A track is when the camera follows the action.

This week I also learned about filming and how to do it. Me and my brother had to create a scenario for the film.

During my summer I watched a films called "The Tanning Of America" which is a documentary which is based on how Hip-Hop it created a culture. It also made a evolutionary movement that had got more advanced through the decades “The Tanning Of America” also explains how it made a change in films, television shows,  fashion sense, business, politics and also race relations.  This doc drew me closer to the art Hip-Hop and the reason why I felt this way was because Hip-Hop was developed through different genres such as Soul, Disco, Pop and a few others
it really inspired me because of the history. I also watched Captain Phillips which kept me entertained from beginning to end. I really enjoyed it because it was action packed. The plot of the story was basically a captain who got his ship surrounded by a small group of pirates, the pirates take the captain as hostage to the sea eventually they get the captain back.

I listened to a stack full of songs although one of the songs that was stuck in my head constantly was a song called " I need answers"- Dizzy Wright and the reason why I chose the song was because the lyrics are really touching to me in my personal opinion. I also listened to “So Fresh” by Will Smith, Biz Markie and Slick Rick I listened to this song because it's just a song I can relax to will I’m in the strolling in the sun.

In my summer I watched a lot of TV  but one program I watched was "Eastenders" I watch it because it's entertaining and it always finds a way to get me interested with the dramatic story lines and ever since I took media I’ve started to notice all the shots in the episode and I also look at the facial expressions. I also watched “My Wife & Kids” and also “The Simpsons” because it makes me laugh so much there both sitcoms that find ways at entertain me.

The websites I use on a daily basis are Facebook and Twitter because I feel that I can speak my mind and also talk to friends and family also I can find out what's going on in the world and how I can find out more about it from that to searching it up on the Google.

A month ago there was an incident in Ferguson, Missouri a 18 year old victim was shot he was unarmed and he was shot by a police officer. The wounds were so serious that he died and the reason why it got my attention is because he wasn't holding a weapon yet they shot him. To me I think it's a stereotype that is too often because the police officer that shot him thought that he was armed and he wasn't which got me very annoyed also this makes the police look bad because they killed someone with no weapon.
